SIN: Call A Thing, A Thing!

“Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.”
Ephesians 5:11

Sin Tempts

”When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;”
James 13

Sin, simply put, it anything that dishonors God and separates us from Him and His holiness.
it’s idolatry, lying, stealing, sexual immorality, covetousness (envy), even unbelief in who He is.

”And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” Matthew 6
Temptation is the desire to do something wrong or unwise.
Without the existence of sin, there is no temptation.

Temptation itself is not sin, but it is a human experience and very supernatural.
Being a follower of Jesus and indwelt with Holy Spirit does not exempt us from temptation.

”On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” Luke 22:40
Even though we all have temptations, they are not our identity and they also don’t prevent us from having a relationship with the Lord. Praise God!
t is not sinful to ask to be delivered from temptation and as we continue to seek God, the temptation will not be as intense.

Sin Separates

“but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.”
James 14

Satan never tempts us with things that we are not specifically drawn to.
But how does he know what our bents and temptations are?
He is not omniscient, omnipresent, nor omnipotent.
He does study our words, habits, and patterns, etc.

In sin, there’s division.
Division of our minds, bodies, souls, and spirits.
Division from God.
Division from ourselves, disembodiment.
Division from others.

Sin Destroys

“Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”
James 15

Sin destroys everything in its path. It has tainted and marred every single thing in this world since the beginning of time. Creation. Mankind. You name it, sin has tainted it.

Sin has ONE goal and ONE goal only: death. The ultimate form of destruction.
Sin does not love, it does not consider others, it does not pursue righteousness.

Sin’s purpose is DESTRUCTION.

Confession & Repentance Restores & Redeems

"No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
1 Corinthians 10:13

If you don’t bring your sin to the light, it will never be dealt with. How can you kill what you allow to stay in the dark to fester? How can you have victory over what you do not acknowledge?

Sin is serious and dangerous. We have to be real with it if we can ever have a relationship with Jesus. The whole point of the Gospel is to be saved from the grips of sin, the penalty of sin, the very sin that separates us from the Father because He is perfect and holy.

A few years ago I heard a pastor say,
“Don’t take narratives and make them normative. Don’t use descriptives as prescriptives.”

Come on, sis. Bring it to the LIGHT.

Pray to God for help to stop hiding.
Acknowledge your sins.
Confess your sins.
Repent of your sins.
Process through your sin.
Make changes to stop hiding.
Pray for forgiveness.
Seek accountability.
Set healthy boundaries for yourself to help you.

Stop hiding. No matter how deep, dark, and dirty that pit goes.

You cannot live in the dark. You will only die. It is a strong, demonic deception that will cause you to justify your sin.

Masturbation. Pornography. Fornication. Pride. Gossip. Envy. Hatred. Abortion. Drunkenness. Drug addiction. Adultery. Homosexual lifestyle. Unrighteous anger. Manipulation. Abuse.

We will still feel residual effects of sin, but we don’t have to be slaves to it.
No more excuses. Change and healing is possible with God.

The darkness won’t save you. Bring it to the light so you can be set free.

You are a great sinner, but He is a great Savior.”
Spurgeon
